I started fooling around with Photoshop when my kids wouldn't cooperate. One would be drooling or have her eyes closed, and the other couldn't wait for me to take the picture so she could be off finding more interesting things to do. So I learned to combine photos, swap heads, smooth hair and eventually change backgrounds. Photoshop is definitely magic.
